Made in Ghana — Where Culture Meets Craft

Ghana is known for its rich culture, vibrant spirit, and warm hospitality—but its incredible artisans deserve their own spotlight.

From the north to the east, skilled craftspeople have mastered the art of sustainable creation, transforming natural resources into functional, beautiful works of art. Think: grass-woven shopper bags, coconut-leaf fences, and intricately designed accessories that tell a story with every strand.

Among Ghana’s most iconic handmade treasures are the Bolga hat and Bolga bag—named after their origin in Bolgatanga, a region in Northern Ghana renowned for its weaving heritage. This is where generations of Bolga artisanshave honed their craft, using traditional techniques passed down through centuries.

-The Story Behind the Craft

Originally created for practicality, the Bolga hat was worn by local farmers to protect against the hot sun—offering shade, comfort, and unexpected style. The Bolga bag served a similar purpose, used to carry farm goods and market finds, crafted with durability and utility in mind.

Over time, these handmade pieces evolved into globally admired fashion and lifestyle staples, celebrated for their design, color, texture, and authenticity.

-What They're Made Of

Each item is woven from Elephant Grass, a wild savanna grass native to Ghana. After harvesting, the grass is dried, twisted into sturdy strands, and then intricately woven by hand into pieces that are both resilient and beautiful.

These works of art aren’t just made in Ghana—they are rooted in heritage, shaped by nature, and woven with pride.
